Maleficent | Ballet illustrations
I paired up with Cindy Jourdain once again on a ballet project! (see our previous work here)
Cindy is a former professional French Ballerina who danced for both the English National Ballet and the Royal Ballet Company in London. Together with Venus Villa, formerly a principal dancer with Hong Kong Ballet, they have produced a new performance. Based on the classic fairy tale “Sleeping Beauty” they added a modern Asian twist to the story and developed an original script and choreography 💃🏼
Their show is an homage to Tchaikovsky’s music and his brilliancy as one of the greatest classical composer of all time, it is also a tale of redemption for all the family to enjoy 🧚🏻♀️
Children as usual will be at the center of our production showcasing a variety of skills ranging from dancing, singing, acting, playing musical instruments and more 🎺
My role, was to develop the key visuals for the event. Using photographs, shot on an iPhone, of the cast - I imported these into Procreate and added illustrative elements. The result, was a series of individual character images and the final poster.
