WWF | Reconnect with Nature Festival

I was invited to participate in the WWF summer feista, which took place at Island House and featured talks by conservation experts, eco-guided visits, workshops, film screenings and a green market. Island House was declared a heritage monument in 1983 and subsequently leased to WWF-Hong Kong as a conservation studies centre in 1986.

This beautiful venue, located in Tai Po, on the Tolo Harbour, is rich with biodiversity with many species of fauna and flora residing there. It was a unique opportunity to visit the grounds, meet with the staff who manage the estate, and to be part of the activities.

Since it is the Year of the Pig, I decided to create a collaborative artwork on site with guests over the weekend. I started by sketching an outline on a wooden canvas. Then, using the colourful toilet paper wraps from a company called ‘Who Gives a Crap’ (who make recycled toilet paper and donate 50% of their profits to help build toilets and improve sanitation in the developing world!) we began to collage the piece to life!
The result is a beautiful and colourful artwork that resides in it’s new home at Island House.
